The 1840 barn at Lt Gransden Airfield
Our 1840 barn has been transformed from a historic barn dating back to the 1840s and is located on a working farm and airfield in the south Cambridgeshire countryside – 12 miles from Cambridge and 50 miles from London. We have easy access to Luton and Stansted airport being less than an hour away. The M11, A1, A14 all close by. Main line station at Sandy with London kings cross 50 mins away. Also we are in easy reach of Cambridge and Bedford.
16 – 20 work stations.
4 Star accommodation on site for 36 persons
The building has two x CAT5 cabling and power points at every workstation.
Broadband redundancy on site :- 1, BT openreach fibre. I’ve seen up to 300 mbs. 2, over the air speeds typically 30mbs. 3, O2 & Vodafone have a 3 and 4G mast on site offering speeds around 40 – 50 mbs. 4, twin wire copper.
The aim of the restoration was to bring the buildings back into use combining modern technology with traditional building techniques to retain the character of the buildings. The Interior design is ultra-modern. The offices have under floor heating powered by a ground source heat pump which also provides the hot water for the complex. Wood fibre and Hemp-core insulation have been used in the buildings which has resulted in an energy efficiency rating of B. The buildings always had a certain degree of natural ventilation (they were used to house Horse and Livestock). This feature has been retained as the materials used are fully breathable, such as the insulation materials and the lime plaster. The apartments use as much natural light as possible and add to this by using low energy LED lighting where possible.
